So, here we go:

My Whatcha Doin' Wednesday Video is going to be a share about something you see on that desk that I got for a DOLLAR!! Can't wait to work them too!!

Upcycled Cork Bulletin Board Pro31 Designs DT project!

Hey Everyone! Today I want to show you a Christmas gift that I have made for my mom. I upcycled a used cork bulletin board that I purchased at Goodwill for this. I also used a slew of Pro31 Designs products on this board. I will include all of the links to the products at the end of this post so that you can purchase them for yourself!
So what are the Ingredients for this project? You will need the following:
Bulletin Board- new or used
Fabric to cover
Old Tshirts or quilt batting
Staple gun and Staples
Tacks
Ribbon
Embellishments to decorate your new Memo Board!

Lets Get Crack-a-lackin!
1. Start with a bulletin board. Any size will work! Check your thrift stores!
2. If you have Batting use it in place of the old t-shirts. I used two old t-shirts for this project because I did not have any batting on hand. If you have batting, you only need one layer.  Measure and cut your t-shirts to fit and then staple them down to adhere. I used a regular office stapler for this part.
3. Measure and adhere your covering fabric (I used Burlap) then attach with a heavy duty stapler. Make sure you pull it as tight as you can possible pull it so you don't get any ripples in your fabric.
4. Trim away any excess fabric and make sure you reinforce the corners with an extra staple or two!
5. Add your ribbon. I used 5/8 Satin ribbon. Just try and make sure your lines stay even. It is a bit difficult, but you can do it! The second picture shows how I adhered it with Heavy duty staples! At Each Intersection of ribbon, place a thumbtack!
6. Embellish with your favorite embellishments! Mine are all from Pro31 Designs!
7. Add your photos and call it DONE!

Now, for the great products I used from Pro31 Designs! Order today for a CYBER MONDAY DEAL!! Check out the Facebook Fan page for the Code!

Flower Friday- Paper Flower Tutorial Time!

Love this flower we are working on today! It is so easy and you only need 3 things! Glue (preferrably hot glue, but any quick dry will do), Paper (a square, any size will work, the size of your square will impact the size of your flower.) I used a 6x6 piece and scissors! Sounds easy right? It is!! Let's get started!
3 Supplies necessary, Glue Gun, Scissors and Paper!
Cut a spiral into your paper, make sure you keep it about 3/4 to 1 inch thick all the way around.
You will need to cut scallops into your paper. Make sure you go down to about 1/4 inch away from the inside edge of your spiral! This is important to make sure you can curl the edges!
In order to form the rose, fold down the outside edge to a 90 degree as shown above, this will form the bud of your rose. Start rolling here. Slightly tighter at first to get a nice bud, then looser to form a fuller rose.
Here is what it looks like about half way rolled!
Here is a completely rolled Rose, you will need to "let this out" a bit. That means to let go slowly as it unravels slightly!
This is what your rose will look like if you stop here and do not curl the edges or add any embellishments! I used the hot glue to seal the bottom to the bud!
And this is what you get when you roll the petals, ink the edges and spray it with a good coat of shimmery glimmer!

I hope you enjoyed this Photo Flower tutorial! If you would like to watch a video of me making this flower in real time! You can watch it below!

A little Pre Holiday Baking

I was perusing Pinterest the other night.. Ok, being honest here, almost every night and some days too! I have said it before and I will say it again. That place is addicting! But I love it!

I found this recipe to make Pumpkin Bread with Brown Butter Frosting. Can you say holy Yum!!(click the photo to open the recipe in a new window.)

I did a little substituting in the recipe, it called for pecans. I used chocolate chips. Sounds like a good substitute for nuts right? :) It is awesome. The recipe makes two loaves. I sent one to work with Jim today because there is no way we need too loaves of this crack bread in the house! I hope those guys like it!

I am making my grocery list right now and heading out when Jim gets home to get all the goodies for Thursday. I am excited about cooking and having the family here but not too excited about the grocery shopping. And what's more, grocery shopping with Jim. I love that man, but I hate grocery shopping with him. I am a fast grocery shopper, a stick to the list grocery shopper. He is what I like to call a peruser. He likes to look down every aisle, pick up packages and look at them.. I am more of a wham bam thank you ma'am type of grocery shopper! It is not my favorite place! So, tonight will definitely be a challenge I am sure! I will undoubtedly come home with way more then what was on my list! (I hate that)

But, I am pledging now to make the best of it! :) We shall see!

So, are you guys getting ready for Thursday? What's your favorite recipe for the holidays! Tomorrow, I will share how we make our Green Bean Casserole. A bit different I am sure then everyone else!

Happy Shopping everyone!

What's Your Favorite Ornament on your Tree

So, today was the annual trimming of the tree at my house. Basically since Haley had to work, I did the majority of the work by myself. Jim helped me clean out our storage area and organize and then drag it all inside! So much fun! (uh huh, sure).

As I was decorating, I kept coming across ornaments that have alot of sentimental value to me. I was wondering how many other people have ornaments that just really help memories come back to the fore front of our minds. I have several and over the course of the next few weeks, I hope to be able to tell you about a few of them.

Today, I would like to share with you this little ornament. To some, it may not even look like an ornament, but perhaps something that belongs at the end of a fishing pole. And honestly that is exactly why I purchased it, in 2006. You see, that was the year we lost my dad. He had been a lifelong fisherman and I wanted to have something that would remind me of him on our Christmas tree.
When I was a young girl I went everywhere with my dad! I loved just hanging out with him and helping him do whatever he was doing. He must have had the patience of a Saint to let me hang around him. Never did he get mad at me for asking questions, making mistakes, or breaking things. He really was the best Dad ever. As I became an adult, my father became my friend, my confidant, the person I could tell anything too and he wouldn't judge me. Honestly, not a day goes by that I don't think of him. That something in my life doesn't remind me of him. This will be the 6th Christmas without him but it still feels like the first.

Here's to you Dad! I love ya!

Do you have a sentimental ornament that you have on your tree each year? I would love to hear about it! Leave me a comment or make a post about it!

So excited about this Holiday Season!

Pictures of our tree to come soon!

Much love you all!
Julie

Another T-shirt flower tutorial! I just can't get enough of making flowers from things that have exhausted their use for me! Totally loving this one!

Loving the Green and Red combo now that the Holiday are getting closer every day!

I did a short video tutorial on how to create these. They are super easy and are the exact same procedure as my ribbon rose flowers! I hope you will take a few minutes and check it out!

I also worked on a custom order for my shop! I hope she likes the flowers!!

Whatcha Doin' Wednesday!

I have spent alot of time this week (time I should have been using a bit more productively) perusing Pinterest! (if you don't have a pinterest account and need an invite, just shoot me an email and I will send you one!) I have pinned so many wonderful things! Things that I want to make, Things that I want to cook, Things that I want to bake, Things that I dream about! etc. etc. etc. If you Pin, then you know what I mean!
I came across this great way to upcycle a t-shirt last week and I pinned it of course! I had hoped that I would be able to make it soon! But like alot of Pinners.. I can pin with the best of them but when it comes down to getting busy and actually making things.. well, there is where I will lose the race! But I did it!! I made something I pinned!

Yay me! :)

So, if you subscribe to my channel on YouTube then you might have already seen my finished product and how I made it, but of course.. I can't leave out you guys here on my blog! I am not going to show a photo tutorial, because that has already been done for you by the wonderful Emily from Emily's Little World! I hope that you guys will head on over there and check out her blog! Good Stuff!!

Here are my finished T-shirt Roses!
Give this a try, instead of turning those old T-shirts into household cloths ( I had the term rags) Use them to make these great accessories! I am going to use the red one as a brooch and as an accent on my black purse and the grey one.. The grey one is going to become a very cute headband!
I would love to see your finished projects if you make them! What else have you been up to this week? Anyone get any DIY projects done in advance of Thanksgiving? I need to spend about 3 days doing a deep clean this week so that my house looks like I keep it neat and tidy! :)

Let me know, I would love to see it!!

Thanks for coming by!

Flower Friday- Glittered Crepe Paper Flowers!

This week's flower was directly inspired by a flower that I saw on Pinterest! (by the way, if you don't do Pinterest.. what are you waiting for? Email me for an invite, it really is that easy! walters1994@gmail.com)

Andrea Paulin from Under a Blue Moon created the flower that I viewed on Pinterest a few days ago! Make sure you check out the link because that is where the picture tutorial will be this week! The video tutorial for Flower Friday will be at the bottom of this post!

I have had a love affair with this roll of crepe paper lately and it would just not get out of my head! I made some trim with it a few weeks ago. But I really wanted to do some flowers with it. There are so many beautiful crepe paper flowers out there that well, I was jealous of them! They were taunting me because for some reason my mind and my fingers could not get their act together to make these flowers. Finally today, my fingers one their battle and I finally was able to create some thing that I really liked from the Crepe Paper!

I hope you enjoy my video tutorial of how I made these flowers! Also, please make sure you go and check out Andrea's Blog! Have to spread the love around!!

Enjoy the Show!
