January Upcycle/Recycle No buy Challenge Number 1!!!

Hey guys! It looks like we will have a good amount of folks joining on us this journey! I hope to see you all at the finish line!!


I know that my biggest struggle this week is going to be avoiding the haul videos on Youtube! Those videos are definitely of the devil for me! :) So, my goal is to avoid them like the plaque this week!


My challenges to you this week are :

1. Organize at least 2 areas in your space! May it be the embellishments that are everywhere including the floor, or the ribbon that has busted out of its current storage area.
2. Create one item-- a tag, a scrapbook page, a mini page, etc... Anything using one of the oldest items in your scrapbook area! Do you have a wax seal that was popular oh about 10 years ago? I do... I am going to figure out how to incorporate it into something this week

Choose one of these or do both, or do neither! But remember, lets help each other use what we have and not purchase new! 


If you do choose one of the challenges .. lets see what you have done.. post it on your blog, do a video for youtube, or report back here what you have done.. Let us see what you create!!


I can't wait to get to know you all better through this challenge! 

I am going to leave you with some before pics of my studio! I am going to be working on it all week long and I hope to have it reasonably organized by Thursday! Now, don't laugh at its state! And remember.. the floors aren't dirty this is the only room in the house that hasn't been remodeled .. and the painted wood floors need some serious help!!

January Upcycle/Recycle No buy Challenge!

How many of us have spent gobs of money on crafting supplies this year? How many of us have stashes that could fuel the creative force of 4 or 5 people? Do you want to save a little money and pay down those Christmas bills? How about saving a little cash in January to buy your sweetie something extra nice for Valentines day?



I am going to host a NO BUY month on my blog! Lets Recycle/Upcycle all of those things that we didn't really know we could use. Lets use our stash! Lets cut into that paper pack and make something fabulous!



The Guidelines of the Challenge

• Do not buy anything new the entire month of January
• Recycle items you have in your home, or those you  might be tempted to toss into the landfill into beutiful handcrafted items.
• Fuel your creative fire by creating something new from something old.
• Support your fellow No-buyers with feedback on their triumphs and if someone falters, lets pick them back up!
• Post on your blog or YouTube once per week (more if you are comfortable) and tell us how you did that week, did you make something amazing? Tell us... did you have a slip up? That's ok too... let us help you!
• Anyone who is still with us at the end of the month will be placed into a drawing for a give-away!

This will be a great month for finding new friendships, strengthing the old and saving our pocketbooks a little stress!!

A very Merry Christmas Mini For Sale

Hey Everyone! I have decided to sell one of the mini's I created for this years Christmas. You may remember seeing it HERE. Sale on my Etsy and a few things I have created!

Hey all it has been a few weeks since I have had the chance to post. I know shame on me! I have been busy though and now that the weather has taken a definite turn for the worse..(by worse I mean Freezing Cold!!) I know I will probably have more time to post!

The first thing I want to mention is that I am having a clearance sale on all of my Thanksgiving and Fall items in my etsy store. Now, I am currently in a challenge over at Your Paper Pantry with my friends Vanessa and Amanda. We had to create something that used the following items: Bling, flowers and lace.

I had to get cracking on a gift for my sister for Christmas so I decided to use this as an opportunity to do so. Here is what I came up with!

I made this for my sister... as you can see I have all three elements plus I through in this gorgeous feather that I found at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas area.. Lovely... I made the flowers...two grunge roses and then another one of the Tim Holtz flowers!

I am also in a tag swap with a few of the girls from YPP.. Alex, V, and Janet are in my group... click on their names to visit their blogs!

I have made one of the tags for the swap so far and I know my pal Mandy from YPP wants to see it... so I am going to post it here ... in hopes that none of the other girls see it :D

I used Black Tulle over the Grey blue cardstock and then layered a flat lace that I glimmered over it. I used iamroses that I sprayed with Lindy Stamp Gang's Screamin' Banshee Black starburst spray. They came out almost blue instead of black. I had some older Foofala letters that I cut apart and inked with weathered wood distress ink and used my craft knife to rough the edges. On the back I used a small white tag envelope and a #4 tag, I made a charm and made a small rose bouquet for the tag using the small iamroses, I added a piece of black lace as well :) I love how the tulle came out and when I heated it it looks weathered and torn now... gives great dimension!

Some stick pins for a new friend

I know I probably haven't mentioned it lately, ok within the last 24 hours just how much I love Your Paper Pantry... It is awesome and the women and men are the best! I love the positive attitudes and how everyone just likes each other there!


I am posting today to show you some of the stick pins I made for one of the gals over at YPP. I love how they turned out and I hope she does too!

Again, if you haven't already joined over there, what in the sam heck are you waiting for? It's 12 dollars a YEAR! ... that comes out to lets see here... oh yeah 1 DOLLAR a month! Christmas Mini Album -part Deux

I completed another Christmas Mini... this one I am going to use for my mom for Christmas.. I am going to fill it with pictures from Christmas pasts for her.. I think it will be a nice memento.

I made photo mats and tags for most of the pages so I had plenty of space for pictures and journaling.

New Vintagey cart for my desk

Hey everyone! I spent the morning today at an auction with my hubby. I spied this cute little cart soon after we arrived to check out what they were going to be selling.

I told myself that I would have it! But I wouldn't go over 5 dollars for it (I'm so cheap...well I like to say thrifty!) I had a bunch of glass ware in it and I was really hoping there wasn't anything to valuable because I really wanted that shelf.

Guess what! I got it! for 5 bucks too!!

I brought it home and placed it on my desk and promptly started filling that baby up! Here she is in all her new found glory!!

My Completed Christmas Mini

I thought I would have had this mini completed yesterday but no such luck! My body decided that it desired sleep more then my mind desired working on it!

Ok, so you have seen the first two pages (the cover and the back of the front cover so we will start with the next pages and go on till the back cover.

 I am thinking about listing this on my etsy, but I haven't decided yet fully! It is pretty thick, I would estimate about 5" or a bit more. I can get enough of this baroque die. I am so glad I purchased it. It was definitely worth the money!
